Fox Eye Thread Lift: Procedure, benefits, risks and cost

The fox eye thread lift is a highly customisable non-surgical treatment. It is an anti-ageing procedure, designed to improve sagging in the upper eyelid. Additionally, it can change the shape of the brows on younger individuals.

The treatment recreates a wide-eyed, lifted effect, known as the cat or fox eye look, popularised by celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Kendal Jenner.

How Does the Fox Eye Lift Work?

It is a minimally invasive eyebrow thread lift procedure. Without an incision, it can improve the look of the outer eyes, upper eyelids and eyebrows.

Dissolvable threads are inserted under the skin at the outer corners of the eye. Pulled gently, the thread lifts the brow to elongate the upper eyelid and elevate sagging tissue.

Acting as scaffolding below the skin, the threads contain small cones. These create volume under the skin and boost collagen production. Weeks after treatment, these collagen-stimulating particles contribute to regenerative effects. Over time, the thread dissolves and is metabolised naturally by the body.

What Is the Procedure for the Fox Eye Lift?

You receive a full consultation and examination to ensure you are a suitable candidate and that the treatment meets your expectations. Eyebrow thread lifts are performed under a local anaesthetic, which is administered as a small injection to the outer eye area on both sides of the face.

The thread is inserted under the skin using a blunt cannula or hollow needle in a procedure that takes less than 30 minutes. Results are instantly noticeable.

Are there any Side-Effects Following Treatment?

Downtime is not significant compared to thread lift treatment elsewhere on the face. However, you are likely to have obvious marks on your face for a couple of days following the fox eye thread lift. You may also experience some bruising and swelling, so it is worth taking some time off work and avoid socialising until these signs have subsided.

It is always worth taking things easy after the procedure. Although gentle exercise, such as walking is fine, do not engage in any vigorous exercise until the thread lift sites have healed.

How Long Do the Results Last?

The results vary, depending on your body’s metabolism, your lifestyle, activity and what type of medical-grade thread is used in the procedure. PDO threads are semi-permanent and also used for suturing. They dissolve between 6 and 9 months.

Other threads are longer lasting with some lasting up to a couple of years. However, the type that is best for you will be guided by whether you require plumping/volumisation rather than just a lift. PDO thread lifts may be shorter acting, but they tend to give more of a volumized/rejuvenated look.

The effects of the collagen regeneration will last for longer, although eventually, this will fade as the collagen naturally begins to break down.

Who Is Suitable for the Fox Eye Thread Lift?

The treatment can be used on virtually all age groups over the age of 18. It tends to fall into two distinct groups, which are those

  • In their 20s and 30s who want to change the shape of their eyebrows rather than refine age-related changes
  • Who are in their 40s and 50s and would benefit from a surgical brow lift to improve the appearance of hooded, sagging eyelids with noticeable lines and wrinkles.

The fox eye thread lift procedure is a reasonable option for other issues in the eye area, such as asymmetry, and can be performed on just one side to elevate the eyebrow.

If you suffer from keloid scarring, have an acute infection at the time of treatment, have cancer or blood clotting disorders, you will not be a suitable candidate for thread lifting treatments.

How Does the Thread Lift Compare with Other Brow Lifts?

The fox eye thread lift compares favourably with other non-surgical brow lifting treatments. In terms of cost, it is on a par with the prices for dermal fillers and Botox® (and may even be less expensive depending on how much filler or Botox is required for the desired result).

Thread lifts occupy the middle-ground for longevity compared to fillers and Botox. They are likely to last longer than Botox®, which will require a top-up between 3 and 5 months.

Standard fillers usually last longer—around 9 to 12 months, although some of the newer, premium filler effects are still noticeable for 18 months or more.

As far as downtime is concerned, thread lifts require a little more than Botox and fillers, but this is still nothing when compared to surgical brow lifts. A surgical procedure is, of course, going to give you a permanent result, which may be what you are looking for if you want to minimise the signs of ageing by eliminating sagging, fine lines and wrinkles.

However, it may not be the ideal solution if you want to change the shape of your brow because it is currently fashionable. Fashions change but surgical alteration does not.

Is it Safe?

Thread lifts are considered to be very low risk because they are non-invasive. The threads used are medical-grade, ultra-fine and biodegradable. But, as with any medical procedure, there are always risks. Infection is a small risk, but you will be given aftercare instructions so that you can avoid any problems.

As with any medical procedure, it is always advisable to have your treatment with a trustworthy practitioner who has the required expertise, not only in the area of cosmetic dermatology but also with thread lifting techniques. Many of the problems associated with thread lifts can be avoided, such as skin puckering or visible threads, if the procedure is carried out by a practitioner with the requisite skillset.
