Several ophthalmologists at the IMO Barcelona Eye Hospital have received excellence awards that place them among the best ophthalmologists in the world:
Doctor Borja Corcóstegui (cataract specialist and IMO Barcelona Hospital director) received in 2019 the award from the Gaudí Gresol Prizes for his 40 years of successful dedication in ophthalmology. In 2013, he has considered the highest rated Spanish ophthalmologist, according to the health reputation monitor.
In 2019, Doctor José García-Arumí (retina specialist) has been appointed President of the SERV (Spanish Retina and Vitreous Society).
In 2016, Doctor José Luis Güell (retina and cornea specialist) has been awarded by his European colleagues with the highest honour as a corneal surgeon.
In November 2017, the IMO Barcelona Eye Hospital received an award of excellence for its contribution to the advancement of artificial vision with the implantation of the new retina chip Iris® II.
