Rajeunissement du visage. Lifting visage - Botox - Acide hyaluronique - Esthétique en Espagne - AntiAging Barcelone Espagne

Facelift is one of the most common cosmetic procedures performed in Spain.

Although there are many techniques for facial rejuvenation, facelift surgery (rhytidectomy) is currently the most effective and long-lasting treatment to correct facial aging and sagging face and neck.

There are different types of facelifts depending on the areas of the face to be treated:

  • Lower facelift with neck lift.
  • Mid facelift
  • Upper facelift

Although the price of a facelift is higher than the price of other non-surgical treatments, the cost is offset by the duration of the treatment result.

A facelift requires the intervention of an experienced surgeon. A good cosmetic surgeon must know how to advise the patient wisely and avoid at all costs these frozen and expressionless faces lacking of naturalness.

What is a facelift?

As we age, facial skin and facial muscles lose tone, this process being more pronounced from the age of 40.

The objective of facelift or rhytidectomy is to obtain a rejuvenated and natural-looking face. It is not about looking like someone else, but about recovering a younger version of yourself. The technique consists of removing the excess tissue after repositioning the muscle layers, the skin and the fat. The incision usually begins in the temple area (inside the hair), extends into the natural lines that exist in the ear and continues around the earlobe, behind the ear and the scalp. Scars are perfectly camouflaged through this procedure.

The intervention is performed with general anesthesia or with local anesthesia and sedation.

What are the objectives of facelift?

– Regenerate the face volume through fat grafts.

– Tighten the muscle layer.

– Increase the cheek volume and define its curve.

– Define the jawline.

– Define the neck.

What are the benefits of a facelift?

  • It is the best treatment for facial flaccidity (saggy skin).
  • The results last longer than if we resort to non-surgical techniques.
  • The scars are invisible.

What are the different types of facelifts?

There are different types of facelifts depending on the areas of the face to be treated. The choice is made based on the patient’s needs and the signs of aging and facial flaccidity that they want to treat.

Lower facelift with neck lift

Lower facelift and neck lift is indicated to treat wrinkles in the middle and lower thirds of the face and neck. This cosmetic surgery aims to maintain the naturalness of the face. The tissues are repositioned. The neck and the jawline are redefined. Cheekbone area is given more volume and the youthful oval is restored.

The incisions are around the ears to make them invisible.

Lower facelift and neck lift can be combined with liposuction. The fat that accumulates in the submandibular area (dewlap) is extracted and injected (lipofilling) in the areas of the face that need more volume.

Superficial fat is removed from the neck. As a result the neck and the angle between the neck and the jaw are defined, giving the face a younger appearance.

Mid facelift

Thanks to the mid facelift, we achieve natural as well as spectacular results. The face, the eye orbit area and the eyelids are rejuvenated.

The Antiaging Group Barcelona medical team is one of the few teams that carry out this facial rejuvenation technique in Spain. Through two small incisions in the scalp and in the mouth we can lift all the cheekbone tissues, enhancing the area without the need for implants and with a lasting result. This technique gives a natural volume to the cheekbone. If necessary, lipofilling can also be carried out.

Upper facelift

The upper facelift aims to reduce or eliminate wrinkles on the forehead and between the eyebrows. It also aims to raise the eyebrows. Through this procedure it is possible to eliminate the sad or tired aspect that some faces transmit, giving them a more youthful appearance.

The plastic surgeons of Antiaging Group Barcelona (Spain) carry out the upper facelift with endoscopy. The result is a minimally invasive technique. Two small cuts are made inside the scalp, making the scars almost invisible. Patient recovery is faster.

Facelift postoperative period: what is it like?

Once the lifting surgery is complete, the wounds are closed with stitches, leaving small tubes under the skin so that no exudate or blood accumulates.

The patient will leave the operating room with dressings, bandages on the head and a drainage system. Although hospitalization is not necessary, it is recommended that the patient be accompanied so that he can be assisted in the following hours after the intervention.

Facelift postoperative period: is it painful?

The postoperative period is practically painless, although uncomfortable. To reduce inflammation, we use a special facial mask (hilotherapy) that provides cold and constant temperature of 15ºC.

The day after the intervention, the surgeon removes the bandages and evaluates the incisions and the condition of the face. As it is a plastic surgery, during the postoperative period, which will last around two weeks, the patient will experience swelling and bruising in the treated area. These symptoms will fade gradually.

Fifteen days after the intervention, the patient can return to normal life and begin with the usual routines and activities. You should be especially careful with sun exposure. Facelift surgery does not involve serious risks or side effects. To ensure success, you need to use a team of highly experienced plastic surgeons with access to the right technology. It is also essential to carry out a correct preoperative study and medical control after the intervention.

Which treatment is the best: a facelift, Botox injections, Hyaluronic acid injections or a thread lift?

Currently there are many facial rejuvenation techniques. However the facelift outstands as the most effective technique to remove wrinkles.

For a time it seemed that the facelift had been replaced by other facial rejuvenation techniques such as Botox, hyaluronic acid, peeling, laser, radiofrequency or the thread lift. However, the reality is different. The facelift has also evolved over the years. Currently, face lifting is practiced with different state-of-the-art techniques, including laser facelift. No other treatment is able to achieve the same results.

Non-surgical facelift treatments are effective in situations of mild flaccidity. However in more serious cases, or when the patient has reached a certain age, non-surgical treatments are not effective.

Some patients want to avoid surgery, but the cost / benefit ratio leans in favour of the facelift. Current facelift techniques seek the fastest recovery, but with a long-term result. The cost of a facelift is offset by the duration of the treatment result.

Will I have a flat expressionless face after the facelift?

Much of the feeling that the facelift was an old-fashioned technique is caused by some celebrity cases that, after going through a facelift, showed a completely artificial and expressionless face. However, the unnatural result was not caused by the technique itself, but rather by a poor skin management. That is why the Antiaging Group Barcelona medical team always highlights the importance of placing yourself in the hands of specialists who have long experience in this type of techniques and who, despite the wishes of the patient, know how to give a wise advice.

Currently, facelift is practiced with different state-of-the-art techniques, including laser facelift. No other treatment is able to achieve the same results.

Should I choose the thread lift treatment instead of the facelift?

Some patients look for effective methods of facial rejuvenation that do not require a long postoperative period. To delay the effects of aging we have several tools such as botulinum toxin, radiofrequency, bioplasty and peelings / laser. The combination of many of these techniques (which are performed in consultation, no hospitalization is needed) allow facial aging to be treated with a very fast recovery.

In cases of slight flaccidity, an alternative option to surgical lifting is the use of tightening threads. The incisions are minimal and the inflammatory signs are easy to hide with makeup. We use 2-3 threads to help maintain the right angle of the neck. This treatment can be combined with a small fat liposuction, or the muscular bands treatment with Botox. In the middle third, one or two threads help to raise the cheek tissue. The combination of other treatments may be necessary to correct specific areas of the face (furrow filler or expression wrinkles treatment). The result is immediate and provides a rejuvenating effect that can last for years. Obviously, it is not as durable as a conventional facelift, but it is a good option in cases of slight flaccidity.

How much does a facelift cost?

This is one of the first questions that patients often ask. The facelift price depends on many factors, including the time of surgery and the costs associated with admission to the clinic.

Without knowing the patient, we do not offer approximate prices since each patient is different. But we know that the economic factor is important when making the decision. For this reason, we offer the patient the possibility of coming to the clinic facilities for a free and no obligation first visit. The patient will be able to consult with the surgeon all the doubts or concerns. The medical team will analyse the best solution for your case.
