Calf liposuction is not a quick fix for obesity. It effectively removes stubborn pockets of fat that can’t otherwise be eliminated through diet and exercise.
The idea is to permanently remove the fat and create a more sculpted, elegant shape. However, there are many options available to reduce calf size and circumference. Ones are more invasive and effective than others. They go from Botox to calf reduction surgery and liposuction.
Liposuction is not the same as calf reduction surgery. They both aim to slim down your lower leg. However, calf reduction surgery is a completely different type of cosmetic procedure.
Calf liposuction is minimally invasive and removes the fat, sculpting a slender shape. Meanwhile, calf reduction surgery slims the calf itself by cutting away part of the muscle, also known as the gastrocnemius, to reduce its size.
Muscle resection is considered radical and aggressive. Also, it is a surgical option not widely known and has had varied results over the years, even though it has become a popular trend among Asian women.
So, if a less muscular look is your goal, or you suffer from muscular hypertrophy, this surgery might not be right for you!
In case you choose calf liposuction, this is not generally performed on its own. Most probably, your doctor will perform both calf and ankle liposuction as a single procedure to shape the entire lower leg and get the best results.
